You can calibrate data imported from and exported to CAD files so that it matches your survey.
Export Calibrated CAD File (2:54) - Once you have created a calibration between your survey and another coordinate system used for CAD, you can easily export a TPC drawing to that original CAD coordinate system.
Why Calibrate?
When you use CAD files that are not on the same CRS (Coordinate Reference System) as your survey, you can create a calibration between the CAD file and your survey. Now you can calibrate CAD data coming into your survey and reverse calibrate drawing data going back to the CAD file.
Without this ability to calibrate, you would have to rotate, translate and scale all data being exchanged. What a mess that would be.
Calibrations take care of that busy work for you and maintain the integrity of the data.
Calibrating a CAD File
You can calibrate a CAD file by inserting it as an XReference, creating a calibration then deleting the XReference.
Now you have the calibration you can use for all operations with that file.
Calibration References
The reason this works is that TPC's calibrations store what they call references. In this case, the reference is the CAD file. When you use that file, TPC searches the survey for a calibration that references it and uses that calibration. See Calibration Information.
