The License Grace Period
If TPC is unable to activate or validate and existing activation on startup, it may initiate a 30 day grace period as shown here.
Grace Period Length
The grace period is 30 days.
If your license expires in less than 30 days, however, the grace period will be set to the amount of days left on your license.
When the Grace Period Initiates
The grace period will initiate if there is no Internet available or there is a TPC server error.
No Internet
If Internet is not available, TPC starts the grace period ONLY if the license was active the last time TPC exited on a computer.
This is the typical scenario for taking a laptop computer into the field where you know you will not have Internet. See Running TPC In The Field Without Internet.
TPC Server Error
If TPC encounters a license server error, TPC starts the grace period if it has previously been activated, regardless of whether or not it remained active the last time it exited.
This scenario allows TPC up to 30 days to fix any license server errors.
When the Grace Period Resets
The first time TPC runs after Internet is restored or the TPC server is fixed, the grace period will end and TPC will resume normal activation. This also resets the grace period back to 30 days in case it is needed again.
When the Grace Period Will Not Activate
•If your license has expired.
•If you are a brand new user and have not activated TPC before on your computer.
•If you have reached the end of your grace period. You cannot activate it again until you have reset the grace period.
