The concept of the Vertical Curve View is that it holds the vertical alignment which gets applied to the traverse when you choose Tools | Compute Vertical Alignment. So it will compute some intermediate results, like length of vertical curve, but the real magic happens when you choose Tools | Compute Vertical Alignment. That’s when the BC’s and EC’s get inserted into the traverse and the elevations of the traverse points get moved up or down to fit the computed vertical alignment.
Also, Tools | Recompute from the Traverse View first recomputes the horizontal alignment of the traverse, then re-adjusts the traverse elevations based on the vertical alignment.
