How TPC Works
Starting Right
Land surveying doesn’t start with a drawing—it starts with data. Traverse PC is built specifically for land surveyors, allowing you to begin with research and measurements, then move seamlessly through analysis, editing, and final deliverables.
With tools like Traverses and Quick View, TPC lets you work the way you think—logically, efficiently, and accurately—producing top-quality, professional results without the complications of traditional CAD software.
Traverses: The Natural Way to Organize Data
TPC organizes survey data into a simple, logical structure that makes calculations, drawings, and workflows more efficient and natural.
- A Traverse can be anything – Property boundaries, control loops, building pads, drain fields, or any other feature.
- Organize features into Traverses – Create Traverses for trees, power poles, rock walls, edge of pavement, building pads, drain fields, and more.
- Traverses compute essential results – Length, closure, area, volume, and other survey calculations are built in.
- Automatically generate Traverses from Point Codes – Point Codes can organize field data into the appropriate Traverses during import.
- Turn imported points into Traverses – GPS/GNSS, ASCII, TBC, and other point data can quickly become organized survey features.
- Connect seamlessly with other data – Traverses correlate with subdivision lots, GIS shapes, LandXML parcels, and alignments. TPC Desktop keeps survey data well connected.
- Compare record and measured data easily – Traverses provide a simple, powerful way to compare record information with field measurements.
Views: A More Agile Way to Work
TPC was designed from the ground up as an agile surveying program, built around a powerful concept called Views.
Views provide flexible ways to work with survey data, tailored to different workflows and types of surveys. Switch between Views instantly with a single button, without disrupting the project or workflow.

Visible Data: Survey Data Always Within Reach
Frustration with inaccessible survey data ends with TPC’s Visible Data technology. TPC’s Traverse View provides direct access to the underlying survey data behind every drawing.
Simply open Traverse View to access the complete project data. Right-click any survey object—line, label, or symbol—in a drawing, and TPC jumps directly to the corresponding point or location within the Traverse.
Every data element remains editable. Correct mistakes, update measurements, or make changes directly within the project without breaking the workflow or starting over.
Quick View: Your Data Does the Drawing
TPC’s Quick View technology creates professional drawings directly from survey data—without traditional drawing commands. Eliminate the frustration of remembering complicated CAD drawing tools and commands.
Choose settings for Control, Side Shots, and Lot Labels, and Quick View automatically creates the drawing.
Apply consistent settings across the entire project or customize settings for individual Traverses to produce sophisticated, presentation-ready drawings.
Export finished deliverables to CAD, PDF, GIS, Google Earth, or other required formats.

Deliverables: From Survey Data to Finished Products
TPC makes it easy to create the deliverables required for the job. Generate professional files and reports directly from the survey project without rebuilding data in multiple programs.
Create PDFs, ASCII files, CAD drawings, LandXML files, and detailed reports from a single TPC project.
