Using Point Codes in the Field

In the field, you can use the conventions of your data collector to add point codes to either the description or attributes of each survey point.

So when collecting a point that is a Top Face of Curb, for which you use the point code TFC, add TFC to the description or attributes of the point.  That's it.

Point Codes in Attributes (4:18) - Point Codes can now be accessed from point attributes as well as point descriptions.

Placing Multiple Codes in a Description

By default, TPC assumes that the first word in the description is a point code. Anything that follows the first word is just part of the description or attribute and can be used to provide information about the point.

Multiple Codes per Point

Additional point codes can be placed in the description by preceding them with the 'code delimiter'. TPC uses two dashes '--' as its default code delimiter. You can embed as many codes as you like using code delimiters as in 'TFC--CB--SW' which includes the codes TFC, CB and SW.

See Multiple Codes per Point.

Point Code Aliases

When creating or updating point codes traverses, you can further control which traverse points are placed in through the use of Aliases. When you specify an Alias, point are placed in the point code traverse corresponding to the Alias instead of the traverse corresponding to the code.

So in the field, you can use point codes like SW1, SW2, SW3 for sidewalk edges, then combine all three codes into one SIDEWALK traverse using aliases.

Emlid GNSS

TPC's Point Codes work seamlessly with Emlid's Code Library.  You can export TPC's point codes for use in any emlid Code Library, use them in the field with emlid Flow and import GNSS points with codes back into TPC.

See Using emlid Point Codes.
