Beginning with TPC Desktop 2024, TPC allows the addition of photos to survey points and traverses.
TPC Photo Filename Format (4:43) - This video gives more details on the specifics of the TPC Photo Filename Format for traverse and point photos.
TPC's Photo Filename Format
When a photo is added to a point or traverse, TPC asks if you would like to use the TPC Photo Filename Format.
These are the formats you can expect from points and traverses
Points
•[Point Label]_[Survey Name].ext
For example, if we have a point label of 4, the survey is named Sample Survey.trv, and the photo's file extension is .png, then the TPC Photo Filename Format for this point is 4_Sample Survey.png.
Traverses
•Traverse_[Traverse Name]_[Survey Name].ext
For example, if you have a traverse named Lake, the survey is named Sample Survey.trv, and the photo's file extension is .png, then the TPC Photo Filename Format for this point is Traverse_Lake_Sample Survey.png.
What happens if I relabel a point/traverse whose photo uses the TPC Photo Filename Format?
If you decide to relabel a point or traverse that has a photo attached which uses the TPC Photo Filename Format, the photo file will be automatically renamed for you as a part of the relabeling process.
NOTE: The auto-renaming of the photo file only happens when you relabel the point or traverse in TPC. If you rename the photo file yourself in file explorer, TPC will very likely not be able to find the photo.
