Saving a Survey with Photos

Beginning with TPC Desktop 2024, TPC allows the addition of photos to survey points and traverses.

What happens to my photos when I do a save as... on my survey?

•If you save your survey into another folder, all in-use photos will be copied over into the new survey folder.

•If you are using TPC's Photo Filename Format for your photos, they will be automatically renamed according to the new survey name.

•If you are using your own filename convention, the files will keep their same filename.

•If any photos with the same filename exist in the destination folder for the survey, TPC will ask if you would like to overwrite them one at a time.

What happens if I save my survey as another name in the same folder?

If you save your survey into the same folder, one of the following will happen:

•If you are using TPC's Photo Filename Format for your photos, they will be automatically renamed according to the new survey name.

•If you are using your own filename convention, the files will not be copied because that name already exists in the folder.

What happens if I save my survey as the same name in the same folder?

If you save your survey into the same folder with the same name, the photos will not be copied or changed since they will all have the same photo filenames.

What happens if I save my survey into another folder and photos with the same name exist?

If you save your survey into another folder and any photo filenames are identical, TPC will ask if you would like to overwrite them one at a time.
