Font Tool Options

The Font Tool dialogs, like the Convert Font dialog shown here, let you choose which drawing objects to work with, showing you how many drawing objects with the From font fit that Option.

When you check one of these Options, TPC delineates those corresponding options in the drawing.  When you uncheck one of these options, TPC undelineates those corresponding options in the drawing.

The delineated objects are the ones that are converted when you choose Convert.  So you can check multiple options then choose Convert.

Survey Space vs Paper Space

To understand how these Options work, you will need to know about Paper Space vs. Survey Space.

In particular, Survey Objects are handled separately from Survey Space objects in these font tools, allowing you to be a little more intentional about which fonts you are working with.

Survey Objects

Includes survey objects like point, line and lot labels that have the selected From font.

Survey drawing objects, like point labels, line labels, are generated by their corresponding survey data.  Their fonts are set by their Traverse Drawing Settings or Surface Settings.

Survey Space Objects (excluding Survey Objects)

Includes survey space objects like text boxes that have the selected From font but does not include survey objects like point, line and lot labels.

These would be the survey space objects you have added to the drawing manually.  This could be a street name, a corner note, etc.

Paper Space Objects

Includes paper space objects like tables and narratives that have the selected From font.

Undelineate on exit

The Convert to Font and Delineate Objects by Font commands both delineate the drawing chosen by the Options.  As you change Options or select a new From font, the delineated objects in the drawing change to match you selections.

When you close this dialog and have not converted the delineated fonts, the delineated objects will remain delineated.  This is OK, and you can undelineate them anytime.  See Delineating Drawing Objects.

If you want any delineated drawing objects to automatically be delineated when you close this dialog, turn this option on.

Drawing Layers

Locked layers, frozen layers and layers that are turned Off are not converted. If you want to convert these layers, you will first need to make sure they are Unlocked, Thawed and turned On.
