ALTA Example

This example uses the sample survey LEARN LEAST SQUARES NETWORK.trv included with TPC.

1.We solved the solved the Least Squares network for the sample survey LEARN LEAST SQUARES NETWORK.trv using a 95% confidence interval.

2.We turned on error ellipses in the drawing.

3.We selected Traverse 1 (delineated) in the ALTA tab as the boundary traverse we want to test.

4.We generated the following report, telling TPC to use both Test #1 and Test #2.  Both tests passed.

[ Relative Positional Precision (RPP) ]

Maximum allowable RPP based on 'line of sight distance' and 0.07 Feet and 50 ppm at 95% confidence level

95% confidence level was used for this solution

[ Test #1: Semi-major Axis of Error Ellipses ]

F-Statistic Multiplier (95% Confidence) 2.864 is applied to Semi-Major and Semi-Minor values.

Because the ChiSquared test failed, the Reference Standard Deviation 0.287 will also be applied.

 Traverse: Traverse 1

 A1 Semi-Major 0.000' <= 0.070' Passed

 1 Semi-Major 0.035' <= 0.070' Passed

 2 Semi-Major 0.063' <= 0.070' Passed

 3 Semi-Major 0.058' <= 0.070' Passed

 Test #1 Passed (4 points passed, 0 points failed)

[ Test #2: Standard deviations of distances between monuments ]

 Traverse: Traverse 1

 A1 to 1 stdDev 0.013' <= 0.128'  Passed

 1 to 2 stdDev 0.013' <= 0.155'  Passed

 2 to 3 stdDev 0.013' <= 0.143'  Passed

 3 to A1 stdDev 0.013' <= 0.178'  Passed

 Test #2 Passed (4 distances passed, 0 distances failed)
