The location of your project determines where it is in a Coordinate Reference System.
Computing a Project Location
In TPC, you can compute a average location for your project using the COGO, Average Point routine.
Average Point (COGO) (3:28) - See how to create ground coordinates for stakeout from a BLM PLSS (geodetic) project with grid coordinates.
Using the Project Location with a CRS
One of the survey's Project Factors you can specify is the Project Location.
TPC uses the project location in a number of ways.
•It can compute the Mapping Angle to used for the project.
•It can compute the Combined Factor used for the project.
•It can be used as the Base Point in the Coordinate Conversion routine, scaling all points towards or away from it. This routine easily converts coordinates between grid and ground.
•If you select either the ground distance or geodetic distance options which are based on project elevation, TPC assigns the project elevation to any new survey points it creates.
