Traverse View Format - Advanced dialog

This dialog contains advanced features available for formatting this Traverse View.

Display Slope Distance Stations

Use slope distance to compute stationing instead of horizontal distance. Stations displayed in the Traverse View will be accumulated slope distance, vs accumulated horizontal distance.

Compute Latitude/Longitude

Turn this on to compute the latitude and longitude based on the current Coordinate Reference System. If you have not selected a grid for the survey or if the coordinates for the points in this survey are not within the range of legitimate values for the grid, Latitude and Longitude will not be computed.

Check Curve Segments

The Area computation method TPC uses does not automatically handle right-of-ways composed of two long and close parallel curves in which the segment of the outside curve extends outside of the right-of-way being computed.

If you encounter this problem, turn on the option. TPC will segment each curve in the traverse into 10 arcs for the purpose of the area computation, resulting in an accurate area computations in most circumstances.

Units

Convert from known units like Perches, Chains and Meters to your survey's units. The unit conversion factor is applied independently from the Distance type you select.  Any Units can be combined with any Distance type.

The pulldown includes the actual factor that will be used to convert between the selected units and the survey units.

The status bar of the Traverse View (at the bottom of TPC desktop) displays the units, along with other information, as Units=Chains. This is also included on any printouts of the traverse data.

User Defined Units

The Units pulldown includes a User Defined entry. Just type any units factor in the pulldown field and TPC will record it as your User Defined units factor.

The User Defined units factor is stored with the other Units selections you made in the Units dialog.

Feet-Meters

You can convert between Feet and Meters using International Survey Foot or U.S. Survey Foot. This pulldown is only shown when your Units conversion involves Imperial units (feet, chains, etc) and metric. TPC just needs to know which factor you want to use.

Distance

Select any one of the available distance types. To see how the Traverse View uses the distance type you select, see Traverse View Distance Types.

If you select a geodetic distance type, you must also have a CRS with a valid projection.

Direction

Select any one of the available direction types.
