Labeling Lots, Parcels and Figures

You can label each traverse with the

name of the traverse

area in square feet/meters/chains and acres/hectares

closure information like relative error

You pick the options you want, the size, color, and TPC does the rest. You can even use this feature to label open-ended traverses like centerlines and fences.

Lot Labels (4:42) - Format lot labels using Traverse Drawing Settings.

Labeling a Lot, Parcel or Figure

If the traverse is a “Closed Loop” traverse (you choose this setting in the Closure View with Edit | Closure Settings | Closure Type), the labels will be placed in the middle of the traverse. If the traverse is a “Closed Point-to-Point” or “Open” traverse, TPC will draw the label above and parallel to the middle course of the traverse.

Double click a drawing object for the traverse you want to label. You can also right click it and choose Traverse Drawing Settings.

Click the Lot Labels tab.

To include the lot label, turn on [X] Name and select the color, font and size you want.

To include area, turn on the Area: options you want, and choose the Decimals, color, font, and size.

To include closure information, turn on the Closure: options and format the label.

If you want future drawings to label lots this way, choose Save to store these settings.

Choose OK to return to Drawing View.

To move a lot label, move the cursor over it, press the left mouse button, drag the label to the desired location and release the mouse button.

To edit a lot label, move the cursor over it, right click and choose Properties.

For closed loop traverses, Drawing View will put the square feet or meters directly under the lot label and the acres or hectares under the square feet or meters.  Closure information will be placed below those labels.

Using Layers

TPC places lot labels on their own layers.  Once you have included the lot labels for the traverses you want, you can then turn all lot labels on or off by turning their individual layers on or off.

TPCLotLabel - include the lot name

TPCLotArea - includes the area labels

TPCLotClosure - includes the lot closure information

Updating Area Automatically

By default, TPC computes the area of each lot when the drawing is regenerated. If you have a large number of lots that are not being edited, you can tell TPC not to recompute the lot areas on regen. This will speed up the regen process and make the Drawing View appear faster. ic area computation, choose Tools | Drawing Settings | Miscellaneous tab and turn off [ ] Compute Area.

Updating Closure Information

Closure information is computed each time a closure label is regenerated.
