Overriding Point Symbols

By default, TPC assigns a point symbol for a survey point referenced in a drawing based on either the Drawing Settings of the drawing or the Traverse Drawing Settings of the traverse that draws the point. To modify the point symbol, you would modify the appropriate settings or the symbol itself. If you were to include the point in another drawing, you have to repeat this process if you wanted the symbol to be the same in both drawings.

Now you can specify a point symbol / size / rotation to be used for a survey point, regardless of the Drawing or Traverse Drawing Settings. You specify the symbol via the Survey Point Properties dialog.

If you specify a point symbol / size / rotation for a point, that point will be displayed with those properties in any drawing that references it.

Overriding  Point Symbols (3:35) - Override individual point symbols in a single drawing or all drawings (global override).

To Set the Overrides

•From the Points Manager or Traverse View, highlight the point to edit and choose Edit | Survey Point Properties or right click the point and choose Survey Point Properties from the pop-up context menu. TPC will display the Survey Point Properties dialog.

•Select the symbol, size and rotation you want.

To Turn Off the Overrides

•From the Points Manager, highlight the point to edit and choose Tools | Properties.

•From a Traverse View, highlight the point to edit and choose Tools | Modify Points | Properties or right click the point and choose Survey Point Properties from the pop-up context menu. TPC will display the Survey Point Properties dialog.

•Choose None to reset the point symbol to None. This setting tells TPC it is OK to assign a point symbol to this point via the Drawing or Traverse Drawing settings.

Overriding Point Symbols with Point Codes

When you sort survey points into traverses via their point codes, you can tell TPC to override the point symbols of those points.

See Setting Survey Point Properties.
