A calibration is a set of parameters that can transform a coordinate from one coordinate system to another.
Types of Calibrations
TPC supports 2D/3D Conformal, 2D/3D Affine and other classic coordinate transformations. See Calibration Types.
Depending on what you are calibrating, TPC will either select the appropriate calibration type for you, or allow you to select it.
Calibration Information
Each calibration holds information about itself, in addition to its coordinate transformation parameters used in calibration computations. See Calibration Information.
Calibrating and Uncalibrating
Once a calibration has been created, it can be used to calibrate survey data, drawing data, CAD files, XReferences, GNSS data and more.
Calibrated data can be Uncalibrated and any calibration can be used in reverse, to reverse calibrate. See Calibrating and Uncalibrating.
Calibrated Object Count
Surveys track how many survey objects have been calibrated by each calibration used in the survey.
In the Manage Calibrations dialog, you can Uncalibrate every survey object that has been calibrated by the selected calibration.

Calibration File
TPC stores information about a calibration in a .cal file. See Calibration File.
As a rule, any calibrations used in a survey are stored in the survey folder along with the .trv file. If you need two calibrations for a survey, one for GNSS data and one for CAD data, you will create both as needed and store them with the survey, TPC default location.
Calibration files can also be shared by other surveys. Although they reference points from their survey of origin, then also contain all the calibration parameters along with the Uncalibrated and control data necessary to recompute those parameters.
