Import/Export dialog

This dialog allows you to import and export supported files types.  It includes a number of options which may not be available for all import/export operations, but they are included here for completeness.

What

If you are exporting, you will need to tell TPC what to export.  See Choosing What Data to Export.

Type

Choose the Type of file you wish to Import/Export.

Settings

Click the settings button to set the file format options

Calibration...

Select a calibration to apply to the exported data. This is useful when exporting your survey back to the coordinates system used in CAD or GIS files for a particular project.

Typically, you would create a calibration when bringing a CAD file into your survey. Then you would choose this button, select that same calibration and tell TPC to reverse it when exporting a CAD file back to the coordinate system used in the original CAD file.

If a file type does not support importing or exporting with a calibration, this button is not shown.

None

Choose this option to NOT use a calibration when exporting.

Files

Choose the destination/source path and filename. You can Browse to the path/file if you choose. You can preview the file to ensure that it is in the format you want.

Clear Details

Click this button to clear the status window.

E-Mail

Attach the selected file to an email.

Browse

Select the file to import or a folder and filename for the exported file.

Preview

Once you have selected a file for import or after you have exported, choose Preview to open that file in the appropriate application (i.e. CSV opens in a spreadsheet program).

Preview in CAD View

Once you have selected a file for import or after you have exported, choose Preview to open that file in the CAD View. Only certain file types allow previewing in the CAD View.

Undo

Select this button to undo the last Import.

Summary

Select this button to review the points created or modified by the last Import. If you choose Undo, these are the points that will be removed or restored.

Export, Import

Click the Export or Import button to execute the action.

Close

Closes the Import/Export dialog box and returns you to the previous window.

Direct Connection

Select the profile you wish to use or click the Profile button to modify or create a profile. Refer to Communications Profiles for more information on profiles. The File Size, Transfer Rate, File Progress and Status Window display status information and are not editable. Click cancel to cancel the file transfer.

Type Categories

The types are categorized, primarily by manufacturer.  Expand the category you want then select the type.

See Using Categories.
