You import and export survey data via the TPC Desktop™ File menu. This menu is available only in the TPC Desktop™, not in any individual views.
Survey Data
When you import to, and export from, a survey, you are working with survey data - points, lines, parcels, alignments and surfaces.
TPC looks for the correlations between the data your are importing and exporting and matches them up with the appropriate survey data.
For example,
•an imported GIS Shape file will create points and traverses (shapes) defined in that file. After the import, you can tag the imported traverses to include them in a drawing, export them to a data collector for stakeout, etc.. The shape names, will be used for the imported traverse names.
•an exported GIS Shape file will includes shapes created for each selected traverse. The traverse name will be used as the shape name, so a Lot 2 traverse will create a Lot 2 shape in the GIS file.
Drawing Data
Drawings can also import and export data. See Sharing Drawing Data.
