The Object Labels settings are part of the Drawing Settings. To access them, you must be in Drawing View. Choose Edit | Drawing Settings and click on the Object Labels tab.

The settings you select here affect labels added to manually drawn lines and arcs. TPC calls these Object Labels.

These settings affect object labels that already exist in the drawing as well as any labels you add in the future. This helps you keep the labels consistent.

To change the way the labels are drawn, return to this dialog and make the appropriate changes.

For more information see Object Labels.

Sharing Label Formats with Traverses

To help you create consistent looking drawings, TPC lets you share object label formats for the drawing with individual Traverse Drawing Settings.

In the Line, Curve/Spiral and Point label format dialogs, you will see Copy To Drawing Settings and Copy From Drawing Settings buttons. These buttons allow you to treat the drawing's object label formats as a sort of standard for each drawing. Set these label formats the way you want for the drawing, then copy them into one or more traverses as needed, to keep the traverse labels looking similar to the drawing's object labels.

The object label formats you choose here are stored with drawing templates. So you can use drawing templates for different line label requirements.

This just one way to share label formats. You can also Save and Recall Traverse Drawing Settings.

Color

Labels will be drawn using this color.

Decimals

Sets the number of decimal places to use for Distance, Direction, Grade, Central Angle, etc..

Font

Select the Font, character size and font style (Thin, Light, Normal, Medium, Bold, Heavy).

Clear Background

Clear any pattern or bitmap fills to make the labels easier to read.

Points

You will not be manually labeling any points (they are created only through the Traverse Drawing Settings). TPC includes Points in this dialog only so that you can have a common format for the drawing.

You need to edit this format if you want to put label labels on separate layers (i.e. TPCPointLabels, TPCPointElevations, etc).

Format Label

When you format point labels for a traverse, TPC includes buttons to copy that point label format to and from the drawing. The format being shared via these buttons can be accessed with this Format Label button.

Lines

These settings control labels on straight lines (tangents).

Distance, Direction, Grade

Turn these on to include them in the object labels. For any one of these to be included in the labels, they must also be incluced in the label formats specified via the Format Label button.

Style

Select a Label Style. Choose Auto, Aligned or Stacked.

Format Label

Leader

Turns on Line Leader(s) for line annotations that don't fit on a line.

Crows Feet

Turn on Crows Feet for line annotations if both the annotation and the crows feet will fit on the line.

The Crows Feet settings determine if TPC applies crows feet to distance and/or direction labels individually.

Arcs

These settings control labels on arcs (curves).

Label

Arcs can be labeled with the chord bearing/azimuth, distance, radius, delta and tangent available in the Curve / Spiral Labels dialog.

Leader

Draws a leader line from the center of the arc to the label.

Crows Feet

The Crows Feet settings determine if TPC applies crows feet to distance and/or direction labels individually.
