Creating and using traverses is essential to using Traverse PC. This topic reviews some of the ways to create traverses in TPC Desktop.
•Inserting or appending a new traverse in the Traverses Manager.
•Copying or duplicating an existing traverse in the Traverses Manager.
•Importing a data collector file into a survey.
•Selecting points in the Points Manager and creating a new traverse to hold them.
•Selecting points in a Traverse View and creating a new traverse to hold them.
•Picking side shots in Drawing View to creating a feature line for the drawing.
•Sorting points into traverses based on their point codes.
•Creating traverses to hold an offset from a centerline traverse.
•Creating a traverse to display a transect of a contour surface
•Creating a traverse from a COGO routine
In the Traverse Manager
You can easily create a traverse from the Traverse Manager and enter your own data. This is typically how you enter Record data into TPC.
See Creating Traverses in the Traverse Manager.
From the Point Manager
If you have existing survey points you want to put into their own traverse, you can select the points from the Point Manager and create a new traverse.
See Creating Traverses From the Point Manager.
From a Traverse View
If you have existing survey points you want to put into their own traverse, you can select the points from the Traverse View and create a new traverse.
See Creating Traverses From a Traverse View.
From a Drawing
TPC lets you pick points from any drawing and add them to any traverse. Flexible options let you pick existing survey points only or create new points from just the drawing objects themselves.
See Creating Traverses From a Drawing.
From Point Codes
TPC use Point Codes to turn your data into drawings. This is sometimes called Field-to-Finish or Field Mapping.
See Creating Traverses From Point Codes.
From Imported Data
When you import data into a survey, TPC creates traverses for the imported data automatically or gives you option, as it does with the ASCII import.
See Creating Traverses From Imported Data.
From Other Traverses
In TPC, you can copy or duplicate existing traverses to create a new ones.
See Creating Traverses From Other Traverses.
From COGO
Some COGO routines create a traverse to hold the points they create or modify.
See Creating Traverses From COGO.
