A drawing legend should make it easy to understand the lines and symbols used on a survey. But some linetypes are more complicated than others.
A simple dashed line is easy. A linetype that includes symbols, CAD blocks, special characters, or text can be a little more challenging—especially when the legend has limited space.
TPC 26.3 makes those complex linetypes fit better in the legend.
Add a Linetype to the Legend
Adding a linetype to a TPC drawing legend is simple.
Right-click a line and choose Add to Legend.
That’s it.
TPC can add a wide variety of linetypes, including:
- Patterned lines with symbols
- Lines containing CAD blocks
- Lines with special characters
- Lines containing text
- More complex custom linetype patterns
The result is a legend that accurately represents the lines used throughout the drawing.
A Little More Room When Needed
TPC 26.3 also gives control over the amount of space available for these patterns.
The legend’s Symbol Width Factor determines how much width is available for the linetype symbols and patterns. Increasing the factor provides more room for longer or more complicated linetypes.
But there’s an even smarter part.
TPC Adjusts the Linetype to Fit
Consider a linetype with a long line segment before its first symbol or text.
If the legend doesn’t have enough room for that entire segment, TPC 26.3 can shorten the initial line segment so the pattern fits within the available legend space.
The linetype isn’t simply cut off. TPC adjusts the beginning of the pattern so the important part of the linetype can still be displayed properly.
This is particularly useful for linetypes such as fences, where a long line segment may occur before the first symbol.
And the same approach works across the other linetypes in the legend.
