New in TPC 26: Adding Stations to Legal Descriptions

Legal descriptions need to be clear, consistent, and easy to follow. In TPC 26, we’ve added a new option that gives you more flexibility and control: you can now include stations directly in your legal descriptions.

This update helps bridge the gap between survey data and written descriptions—especially on projects where stationing is expected or required.

Flexible Station Placement

Not every legal description is written the same way. That’s why TPC now lets you choose where stations appear in each course:

  • At the beginning of the course
  • Or at the end of the course

This flexibility allows you to match office standards, client requirements, or regional conventions without rewriting or manually editing descriptions.

New Default Station Template

To make getting started even easier, TPC 26 includes a new DefaultToStation.xml legal description style template.

This template is ready to use right out of the box, allowing you to generate legal descriptions with stations immediately—no custom setup required. Of course, it can also be customized to fit your preferred formatting.

Why This Matters

Including stations in legal descriptions can improve clarity, support consistency across project documents, and reduce the need for post-processing edits. By generating station-based descriptions directly from your survey data, TPC helps ensure accuracy while saving time.

Built for Real Survey Workflows

Adding stations to legal descriptions is another example of how TPC 2026 focuses on practical improvements that reflect how surveyors actually work. Small options like this can make a big difference in delivering clean, professional results with confidence.

TPC 26 continues to make legal descriptions more flexible, more accurate, and easier to produce.
